Leaving a Legacy: A Community Letter-Writing Experience

What would you want Montclair residents 50 years from now to know about life today?

Join Friends of the Howe House for a creative, intergenerational community experience exploring memory, home, history and legacy. Inspired by the story of James Howe and the artifacts that helped preserve his journey from slavery to freedom and homeownership, participants will create their own piece of history by writing a letter to the residents of Montclair in 2076.

Come share your memories, hopes and vision for Montclair, contribute to a Community Memory Wall, and personalize an envelope for your letter using historic images, maps and other creative materials. Adults, children and families are welcome—everyone has a story worth preserving.
